On the cliff tops of North Cornwall we can see the ruins of an old castle. This is Tintagel castle – a fortress for medieval Cornish knights. The castle has a long association with legends of King Arthur. In the 12th century Geoffrey of Monmouth described Tintagel as the place of Arthur’s conception and/or place of his birth. It is also possible that this castle was the residence of the legendary King Arthur. The stately and amazing 8-fit high bronze sculpture of King Arthur by the master Rubin Eynon meets guests at the cliff top near the castle. This sculpture is also names Gallos, was installed in April 2016.
Tintagel Castle became a tourist attraction since the mid 19th century. Now the castle is owned by Charles, Prince of Wales as part of the landholdings of the Duchy of Cornwall. Tintagel castle is a very popular and really fascinating tourist place.
